I fell in love with graphic design at the age of 10. My mother had given me a Barbie fashion design computer program, and I was off.. I started with making magazine covers to entire magazines! At the age of 14, I was introduced to the wonderful world of web design. I started with the pre-requisite Geocities Website, and found a passion for creating digital graphics... this passion took me through high school, and into college where I graduated from SAIT (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology) in the Digital Graphics Communications program.
DGC was a mainly print-based program, following the preparations that one would need to prepare a job for the press. We learned the science behind communication, proper typographical rules, and the business of the print indistry. This provided a well-rooted start for my foray into the graphic design industry.
Graduating with Honours, I found a job within the Calgary Sun as a Production Artist. In this position I was able to learn about the timely needs that a newspaper has. I was able to grow within this job and move up the ladder to become a Production Supervisor.
I still have the same passion for graphic design as I did when I was 10 years old. I believe in learning and growing as a designer constantly, and hope to offer you my passion for design. I also belive in lifelong learning, and am currently working towards an Associate Certificate in Web Technologies from the British Columbia Institute of Technology.
